Fandom: Xiaolin Showdown/Xiaolin Chronicles: XC Episode 2

Character History
Ping Pong was apparently born in Europe, though the exact place isn't known nor are his parents as he seems to be an orphan. His accent is French though, so that's the most likely place for where he spent most of his life. He grew up in a monastery and because of his impressive speed, acted as mail carrier and errand boy between various temples around Europe. But when snail mail was replaced by more modern methods of delivery, Ping Pong was left with nothing to do and apparently turned his attention to honing his combat skills. One day after looking at a poster of his idols, the Xiaolin monks: Omi, Raimundo, Kimiko, and Clay, he decided he would travel to their temple to study under them and hopefully become Omi's gecko.

Whether this was before the monks were tasked with picking and training a single apprentice to train, or whether he decided first and only left to visit their temple after hearing about it isn't specifically stated. At some point prior to episode one he also learned the signature move of the Lotus Locust Clan used by the last known Xiaolin Dragon of Wood, Barky Lebwa, who was also from Europe...specifically France.

He became acquainted with his heroes while attempting to find the bathroom in the middle of training, zooming around while quickly explaining in French that he had to go to the bathroom. Afterward he properly introduced himself though Omi, who he looked up to the most, decided to rename him Ping Pong and he decided he liked it enough to keep as his name. He also displayed his knowledge of a technique known by a previous great master, who was the wood element. Continuing in the competition to become the chosen apprentice he quickly impressed Omi with his skill and determination, gaining the warrior's praise and being named his gecko, despite the fact all four monks had to be in agreement. He also expressed an interest in Omi's knowledge about evildoers like Jack Spicer and the desire to help defeat evil.

When a new Shen Gong Wu was revealed, Omi allowed him to come along to retrieve it as an observer, though he unwittingly made his hero jealous by gaining Dojo the dragon's approval with sincere praise of him. There was a slight detour to save a girl named Willow from dangerous creatures, which Ping Pong tried to help with but was ultimately helped by Willow. She came along as she was hoping to compete for apprenticeship too and had been headed to the temple. Jack Spicer was there when they arrived to claim the Wu and, though not as experienced in a fight, Ping Pong found himself in a Xiaolin Showdown using Omi's Wu as a wager. He won the Showdown and earned the praise of the other monks, which would have won him apprenticeship if Omi hadn't said that it was still undecided. His hero wanted to give Willow a shot as well as saying he didn't yet feel Ping Pong had proven himself and, while the other three were willing to press the fact that he had earned it, Ping Pong deferred to Omi's judgement.

Omi began to spend a lot of time training Willow while having no time for Ping Pong, who trained alone or with the other three monks. The one time Omi did try training with them, Omi was injured and Ping Pong felt badly and tried to soothe him with tea while Raimundo took Willow elsewhere. When Omi left with Willow for training again, Master Fung asked him to fetch Omi for him. Willow was left alone so Ping Pong offered to train with her, but she blew him off and so he returned to the temple and helped Kimiko clean the kitchen instead, perfectly happy to help a fellow monk. Later he found Omi and Willow playing some sort of guessing game, but Willow left when he asked to play with them and Omi got upset with him and left as well.

When the next Wu appeared, Ping Pong and Willow tagged along again, and Ping Pong tried to gain the chance to prove himself by offering to do all of the monks' chores if they'd let him beat up Jack first...though he probably also had just liked beating Jack the first time. Everyone ended up racing for the Wu, but a big shadow kept grabbing him and tosing him around, using him to trip up and take out the monks which allowed Jack to get it first. Ping Pong attempted to explain to his heroes what happened, but they hadn't seen the shadow and were upset with him. The next day he overheard them talking and withdrew from trying to become apprentice because especially Omi was upset with him and felt that he was only making excuses. He wished Willow well and left the temple alone.

Character Personality:
Ping Pong is an energetic, sometimes hyperactive, and fairly happy-go-lucky person by default. He's helpful, easygoing, kindhearted, and eager to please at first glance and in overall character. He's also brave, determined, and has a strong sense of good over evil. He actively enjoys the chance to kick villain butt when it presents itself. Naive and sincere, he doesn't go out of his way to impress normally and doesn't go through pretenses, nor does he always understand when he's done something to irritate someone...especially if he hasn't actually done something wrong.

One thing that a lot of people notice is that Ping Pong acts very similar to his hero, Omi, who he also physically resembles. They are both eager prodigies with a strong moral compass who are eager to prove themselves. But Omi is full of himself to the point of being condescending even to his fellow monks, loves having his ego stroked and doing heroic things to boost his greatness, and considers himself unworthy of being a warrior at the slightest failure on his part. Ping Pong's insecurity is the major factor behind his ability to excel, he treats his fellow monks with respect and aims to serve them, and isn't boastful. Omi lives his martial arts training and the legacy of the Xiaolin Dragons, but Ping Pong has many interests in addition to both of those. He's also got more experience in the world outside of being a monk, is up-to-date on technology, and even is up on his catchphrases and slang, which are all things Omi is lacking in. In a way, he's all the things that can draw people to Omi as a friend without all of the things that tend to push others away. He is devoted to Omi though and looks up to him almost without faltering. It's currently unknown if they're related, as neither have any known family, so the similarities may be a coincidence.

He carries a journal that he writes about his daily life in. He keeps it with him fairly often and his entries also include well done drawings of the things that stood out about a day's events, hinting that he might like to sketch in his spare time. He has surprisingly good skill in drawing despite showing no interest in it as of yet. The fact that he keeps a diary shows that he likes to look back on things in his life and he tends to record both the good and bad. Oddly, though almost definitely because English isn't his first language and so he doesn't always know the words he wants, he speaks English with sprinklings of French, Italian, and Spanish usually. When worked up he tends to use almost fluent French, Italian, or Spanish, but sometimes can still stick to mostly English. Like his mentor he sleeps balancing on his head in a meditative position, which he can maintain even on narrow surfaces unless abruptly awakened by something. He does also sleep normally though. He also sleeps nude sometimes because he's French, but has the decency to wear a blanket if he comes out of his room before getting dressed.

Despite having been raised in temples and mostly dealing with other monks Ping Pong is very well socialized, most likely because he has traveled much of Europe. He's fairly well-read in various subjects, including but not limited to: the nature of dragons, legendary mystical objects, and technology and how it works. He stated that he reads a lot, and implies that it wasn't only for his studies, so it's probably a hobby picked up to pass the time when nothing else is needed to be done. He doesn't shy away from hard work and likes to see others happy and in the case of disputes will try to diffuse them if he can, especially if they're about him. He's also willing to volunteer to do odd or dangerous tasks...such as crawling into a dragon's mouth to search inside it for answers.

Ping Pong likes to learn, so much so that he has already studied almost 1500 years of history and the answers to things like how bees fly with such small wings and why baboons have bright red bottoms. When presented with the chance to learn new skills that might be useful he will eagerly jump on the opportunity and strive to live up to his teacher's expectations. He also strongly believes that if one has the truth then everything falls into place, though he knows not everyone is truthful. This is also the trait in his mentor, Omi, that he respects above all else.

He likes to make friends, or to at least be on good terms with the people he's around and is very polite and enjoys being helpful, and attempts to get along with just about anyone he meets. A good Samaritan, he's quick to offer a helping hand when a person seems like they could use it. He's also quick to want to join in with friendly fun. Doing a good job, especially for friends or those he looks up to, is very important to him. He has the type of honesty that lets him genuinely give praise when he feels something is praise-worthy, but doesn't seem the type to talk down to others. He also shows appropriate respect to most people, especially his elders, provided they are not his enemies. But again he never really becomes outright disrespectful to even those people he doesn't respect.

When in the presence of someone he really looks up to, Ping Pong's demeanor doesn't change too much even if he worships the ground they walk on. He does want to be around them more and their praise or disappointment in him has a stronger effect, but he continues to be himself and wouldn't do anything he'd be unwilling to do for anyone else to gain their favor. Letting that person down is something that would be extremely hard on his self esteem, even in circumstances where it was an outside factor responsible and he knew it. It's pretty obvious when he has a favorite because that's who he gives most of his attention to, but that's only most of his attention since he still has time for others.

His competitiveness isn't most people's view of competitive, as he's a good sport and simply does his best in whatever he does. If he wins then he doesn't gloat, and if he loses or has to concede defeat he'll congratulate his opponent sincerely. When not in direct-opposition types of competition he is willing to work side-by-side with his rivals if they let him, with no motives but the chance for both of them benefit from the cooperation. He's confident but not cocky and doesn't seem to view his competition as competition unless it's more of a good vs. evil situation. But he seems to not be lacking in confidence, he's simply humble and accepts praise when he's earned it or takes responsibility when he is made aware he's at fault for something...whether he was actually the one at fault or not. He is the type to do whatever seems the right solution to rectify his error as well.

At times a bit clueless, Ping Pong is obviously very innocent and naive enough to not always realize ulterior motives and may even miss things like poorly disguised jealousy. He may also not realize some good things said about himself or others, and likely would miss flirting or most sexual innuendo if he heard it. More obvious things like lies he's aware of or the tricks of someone he knows can't be trusted aren't likely to get by him though. He's often quick to act, which has equal chance to work for or against him depending on the situation, and constantly seems to have energy to burn. When excited in any way outside of battle, he becomes much more animated and may move or speak at faster speeds and as such may be harder to understand if he's trying to convey something.

One thing about Ping Pong that's both good and potentially bad is that he's eager to please. He loves to do things for his friends, but his kindness is easily taken advantage of by those same friends if they are so inclined. This becomes very apparent when he does become a proper Xiaolin warrior instead of an apprentice, and later is given a list of chores that leaves him very little time to train while freeing up his friends to do as they please. Even when unhappy with such circumstances, he'll continue to work hard at everything and likely won't bring it up to anyone.

Ping Pong is not fearless, but his strong determination lets him stand and face situations even some adults couldn't. He has a sense of honor and will attempt to protect those who need it, though if it were a bad guy it would be with more reluctance. His mind doesn't seem to work on the idea of what he stands to gain from a situation, even if there is something to gain, but from trying to do the right thing...even if what seems to be the right thing puts him in a dangerous situation. His sense of honor isn't so strong that he wouldn't enjoy beating up even a pathetically weak villain though, since it would still be a villain being evil. Even though he can have fun in a fight or in his training, he knows very well when the situation is serious or when his utmost focus is required and will give it. He won't back down from a challenge when something important is at stake, and will do anything in his power to deal in a serious situation.

For some reason Ping Pong is very afraid of turkeys, though he's also perfectly aware that it's not a normal fear. As such he's ashamed to admit it, though he doesn't exactly try to pretend he's not. He just doesn't want to admit it especially to someone he looks up to. More reasonably, he is also afraid of being unable to amount to anything, which is part of his motivation to try so hard in everything he does. He wants nothing more than to be acknowledged because he legitimately did well in his endeavor. Alongside that is the want to be included, not so great as to try to be where he knows he's not wanted or able to be but enough to attempt to keep up in the activity. He can take being turned away for whatever reason, but that doesn't mean there won't be any potentially hurt feeling for him on the matter. What this really amounts to is Ping Pong being very good at a lot of things, seemingly because he feels like being excellent is the only way to be adequate or on par with other people, but he isn't trying to be the best at things.

Apparently not one to lose his temper easily, Ping Pong is more likely to be seen pouting in disappointment than losing his temper. He goes from his usual happy demeanor to serious in the times that call for it, but it takes something bad happening like him seeing a friend hurt by someone or something to actually upset him. Even in a situation where danger seems immediate to him or friends, he would rather find a more peaceful solution if he could see one present itself. Likewise if the most obvious solution to a dire situation involved sacrificing someone else he wouldn't want to do it, but may be forced to no matter his feelings.

As a character with a lot of innocence and positivity, Ping Pong is a character who might annoy some. But his "lack of an ego" and the insecurities he feels from often lead him to feel like he needs to prove himself, which makes up a lot of the drive behind his determination. He knows where he wants to be in the world right now, but he has a lot of room to grow around his core desire for acceptance.

Powers and Abilities:
Ping Pong is a Xiaolin apprentice and a fairly competent fighter despite lack of formal training. His speed is well above that of a normal human, allowing him to cover large distances in short amounts of time, though not as quickly as flying on Dojo or a plane. His physical strength and endurance re also above average, as he's been shown to have the strength to break a stone wall with his fists and the endurance to put up a fight after trying to hold off the assault of multiple jungle cats. The wiki says that he's frail in combat, but he has been shown to be able to get up after being slammed into his allies, having a much larger person land on him hard enough to leave an indent in the ground, and being slammed into a rock wall with enough force for his light body to leave an impression...he's also been only knocked unconscious when being thrown through a solid wood door.

Combat-wise he is quick and agile, able to flip and dodge as well as use several fighting techniques such as Slapping Mosquitoes, but he still needs training and has a lot of room to improve. His current skill level puts him above a normal person, but nowhere near on par with a master of martial arts. His tiger instinct, the ability to sense the movements around him and predict and appropriately react to them, are not yet well trained. He can usually follow the movements, even using the reflection in his glasses to see enemies attacking from behind, but he can be taken by surprise or misjudge an action.

His element is wood, but he hasn't yet shown any ability to manifest it and may not without guidance from someone who either has an elemental power or is a Xiaolin monk, or unless he's in a dire situation that causes it to manifest...in which case he would still need regular training to master it. He has been shown to have the potential to learn at least basic control over wind, fire, and earth as shown in one episode that the other monks have been teaching him. It's not known yet if he could do water as well though.

Samples
Network: Your network sample entry should be made as if your character were posting to a public network, such as Dreamwidth. It does not have to be their first post (ie, "OMG WHERE AM I?!"), but it does have to show that the character is perfectly aware of the fact that this is something that other people are likely to see. Please avoid excessive description in [action tags] here, as one would get in video posts - we're looking for your character's voice, the one they use for talking to others. Save the internal monologues for the third person sample.
Third Person: 300 word minimum. This is the place to show your character's inner thoughts within the setting. Give us a nice third person narrative of your character doing something, plus how they feel about it. This doesn't have to be blatant "this is what my character is thinking, designated by italics!" but should rather show your character's self via their actions and interactions with their environment.

Jack Spicer was there when they arrived to claim the Wu and, though not as experienced in a fight, Ping Pong found himself in a Xiaolin Showdown using Omi's Wu as a wager. He won the Showdown and earned the praise of the other monks, which would have won him apprenticeship if Omi hadn't said it was still undecided.

Willow was left alone so Ping Pong offered to train with her, but she blew him off so he returned to the temple and helped Kimiko clean the kitchen instead, perfectly happy to help a fellow monk.

Everyone ended up racing for the Wu, but a big shadow kept grabbing him and using him to trip up and take out the monks, allowing Jack to get it first. Ping Pong attempted to explain to his heroes what happened, but they hadn't seen the shadow and were upset. The next day he overheard them talking and withdrew from trying to become apprentice because especially Omi was upset with him. He wished Willow well ad left the temple alone.

That night in the forest he spotted Willow sneaking around and followed her, finding out that she was the shadow and had purposely used him to left Jack win just to discredit him under the orders of Chase Young. Realizing it didn't bode well for his friends, he went to go back and warn them but ran into Kimiko, who had also followed Willow/Shadow there. Chase and Shadow attacked them and Kimiko fell from the cliff in the fight while Ping Pong was taken hostage and chained up as a toy for the Jungle Cats in Chase's lair.

Once Chase left and after the cats finally wore themselves out enough to sleep, he slipped out of his shackles and ran through the night back to the temple, arriving the next day to finally warn them. He was too late though, as Shadow's deception had given her the time she needed to steal all of the Wu already. Soon after this discovery, Chase attacked the temple with Shadow and destroyed it completely. The monks only escaped harm by escaping into the secret tunnels under the temple, with Omi and Ping Pong having been dragged into them after being defeated by the villains.

With their home in ruins, Master Fung that stated it was time for the monks and Dojo to go on a journey to find a new home...but without him. Ping Pong was finally unanimously accepted as apprentice before Master Fung left them and Omi stated Ping Pong was no longer his gecko, but a big lizard now.

Within the next two days, the monks had regained some Wu, specifically the Shroud of Monster Camo and the Fist of the Iron Bear. The second night Dojo had a strange dream involving golden bunnies, so they called Master Fung and learned that the golden bunny talisman was something they needed to find as a step toward finding their new temple. Soon after the Blue Ray Manta Ray revealed itself and Omi won it from Jack in a Showdown, which was fortunate because Dojo's grief over being separated from Master Fung was interfering with his ability to fly. The Manta Ray also had the golden bunny emblem on the underside indicating it could lead them to the talisman. They found a mountain village inhabited by almost exclusively golden bunnies, which would become vicious monsters if startled. This presented an additional problem to simply finding the real golden bunny, especially when Jack arrived to steal them all. The monks couldn't start a fight, as noted by Ping Pong, because the bunnies might have transformed. Clay came up with the solution and they saved the bunnies, as well as fund their talisman.

The second talisman was found while they were dealing with Jack and the Honey Badger that revealed itself. Jack used its power in a virtual world created by Kimiko's father to destroy the real world, so they went in after him and were able to stop him. Afterward, Kimiko's father aborted the project and gave them a rock that Ping Pong realized was another talisman.

Clay had a dream that reminded him of an upcoming family event and he invited them along. On the way, the Tongue of Cherokee revealed itself, but Jack got it and escaped. While they enjoyed the rodeo, he stole all of the cows from the ranch. They managed to send him packing and Ping Pong pacified the cows using the Tongue and a poem he made up, but Jack caught up to them the next morning and almost turned the herd against them. They defeated him again and returned the cows to the ranch, which got Clay the talisman his family had held onto.

Chase began to give them all trouble, having his cats attack them constantly. But the worst trouble came when Jack ate a powerful magical crustacean, causing mass destruction across the world. The monks were forced to team up with Chase and Shadow to find Jack and undo the damage, using science to reconstruct the crustacean.

Ping Pong continued to study under his mentors, improving his technique and learning to use basic elemental abilities. But Omi became upset that Ping Pong was learning from everyone, not just him, and started giving him the cold shoulder. Omi won the Sapphire Dragonfly from Shadow in a Showdown, but Chase had Shadow steal and use it on Ping Pong while he slept. This resulted in a boost in energy the next day, but a quick burnout before he passed out. He woke a few minutes later, several times his normal size and with his friends inside his head trying to save him. The monks battled Chase and Shadow in his mind, and Jack attacked him in a mech. Working with Omi, he was able to beat Jack by awakening his tiger instincts and Omi defeatd Chase, removing the Sapphire Dragonfly and saving Ping Pong.

When evil recruiter, Sal, was captured and to be escorted to prison, the monks were given this task. Sal was a cunning smooth-talker and managed to play on Raimundo's sympathy, leading to his escape, but Rai helped them figure out where he'd gone and they were able to recapture him. Sal gave Rai his talisman before being locked away and they continued their journey.

Chase attacked them again, using his cat warriors to turn the monks into cats. Only Omi escaped, and Ping Pong and the others were kept in Chase's lair, unconcerned with anything that was going on and unaware they would soon loose themselves fully. When Omi turned up to challenge Chase for their freedom, Chase turned them loose to attack him. Omi still challenged him to a Showdown and won, freeing them. Then their talismans merged to summon their new temple and a monster that was really a beautiful princess. She left them to care for it while she went on a journey.

Shortly after, the monks, including Ping Pong fell into the habit of training hard and expecting Dojo to do all of the work around the temple. At the time he got fed up with the mistreatment, a meteor containing a small dragon crashed nearby. This dragon was a descendant of Dojo's and told them he was there to help Dojo realize his destiny. But this turned out to involve Dojo being sent into the future by the Quantum Wand. Afterward the monks realized how much they'd selfishly relied on Dojo, with Ping Pong being the first to acknowledge that none of what they'd been making Dojo do was anything they should have expected from him. Deciding to bring him home, they took the Quantum Wand from Jack and went to the future...a world where dragons ruled and treated humans as pets and slaves.

A random human helped they get to Dojo and they made amends, but it turned out Dojo's descendant was the one who wanted humans enslaved. The monks couldn't beat his bodyguards, but a blast from Jack's shrik ray exited the time stream, shrinking the dragons and allowing them time to use the Quantum Wand to escape. It was decided from then on everyone would take turns being the boss to be fair. Dojo was first and everyone had to wear maid outfits while serving him.

The Shoku Warriors received elemental Shen Gong Wu from Master Fung, which formed powerful combinations when combined with other Wu. Having not gotten one, Ping Pong was disappointed and felt forgotten but was reassured by both Dojo and an apparition of Master Fung that his change to shine would come. It came pretty soon when they were attacked by a magic tree. They couldn't defeat it, but Ping Pong was able to start a conversation that let him explain the princess had left them to watch the temple. But the tree was then possessed by Chase, who revealed the tree was in reality Barkey LeBois, the previous Xiaolin Dragon of Wood. Chase trapped them in the temple and exposed them to manifestations of their fears, with Pong's being a giant and stern woman who constantly tried to swat him like a bug while telling him he would never amount to anything. Dojo came to their rescue and they challenged Chase...and Jack, to a Showdown. Chase overpowered everyone and it was Ping Pong who saved the day.

Barkey had ordered him to stab him with Omi's elemental Wu because it was the only way to save everyone. He did hesitate but regretfully complied, resulting in Chase being expelled from Barkey's body and losing by default. Barkey congratulated him, as did Master Fung who promoted him to Shoku Warrior. He also received his elemental Wu, the Golden Peach.

As part of his new rank Ping Pong received a lot more chores and training, so many that he was having a hard time keeping up even though he never complained. But when Dojo told him about his newly received Ring of Catsumi, Ping Ping decided to borrow its power because nine of him could do all of his chores and ensure he could still train. But the extras only caused trouble and while the monks rounded them up, the real Ping Pong was abducted by Chase. Chase coerced him into drinking the Lao Mang Lone Soup by threatening his friends.

He was released after the evil had taken hold, though it hadn't fully, and returned to the temple where the only duplicate left from the ring was causing trouble. He demanded to be locked upm but once fully whole again he began to go nuts in the cage, sometimes threatening his friends other times fighting the evil, telling them not to let him out but then playing on their emotion s and generally being gross and rude. He tricked Omi and escaped, but later appeared to challenge Chase for the Bouncy Wouncy for the Wu and the removal of the evil from his body. He barely managed to win and was returned to normal.

Kimiko's birthday came around and they baked her a cake. Ping Pong became frustrated that he couldn't easily climb the cake to add sprinkles with Omi because of his Wu that he didn't like, and Omi and Dojo tried to get him to show his Golden Peach so it could be combined with the Wu...but when it did Ping Pong wound up flying all over the place and wrecking the cake. When the next Wu activated, it was Kimiko's sister Tigress who got it and gave it to her. The boys were all curious and friendly towards her, but Kimiko wasn't. Then Tigress took their Undo Shen Gong Wu, but sent it back the next day.

Likewise if the most obvious solution to a dire situation involved sacrificing someone elsehe wouldn't want to do it, but may be forced to no matter his feelings.

Abilities/Additional Notes:

No thanks.

Ping Pong is primarily an energetic, sometimes hyperactive, and fairly happy-go-lucky person by default. He's helpful, easygoing, kindhearted, and eager to please and in overall character. At first glance he's also brave, determined, and has a strong sense of good over evil, and he actively enjoys the chance to kick villain butt when it presents itself. Naive and sincere, he doesn't go out of his way to impress normally and doesn't go through pretenses, nor does he always understand when he's done something to irritate someone...especially if he hasn't actually done something wrong. Interestingly, despite his naivete, he's not gullible when it comes to people and things that he deals with on a regular basis.

Having traveled much of Europe delivering messages, Ping Pong understands multiple including English, which he uses the most. Oddly, though almost definitely because it isn't his first language and so he doesn't always know the words he wants, he speaks primarily English but with sprinklings of French, Italian, and Spanish here and there. When he's really worked up he tends to use almost fluent French, Italian, or Spanish, but sometimes can still stick to mostly English.

Despite having been raised in temples and mostly dealing with other monks Ping Pong is very well socialized, most likely because he has traveled so much. He likes to make friends, or to at least be on good terms with the people he's around and is very polite and enjoys being helpful, attempting to get along with just about anyone he meets. A good Samaritan, he's quick to offer a helping hand when a person seems like they could use it. He doesn't shy away from hard work and likes to see others happy and in the case disputes will try to diffuse them if he can, especially if they're about him. He's willing to volunteer to do even some of the most odd or potentially dangerous tasks...such as crawling into a dragon's mouth to search inside it for answers. Doing a good job, especially for friends or those he looks up to, is very important to him.

Despite aspiring to become a great Xiaolin Dragon someday, Ping Pong is a little bit of a sheep. He has strong beliefs and morals but in many things he defers to the decisions of others unless he has a serious reason to oppose such decisions. He may not always speak up for others, or even be oblivious to the fact that something is wrong in the group if everything lrgely seems normal. He's also quick to want to join in with friendly fun or just relaxing time in the groups. But if the group has done something wrong, even if he wasn't directly the wrong-doer, he will be one of the first, if not the first, to apologize both for his actions or the group's.

He's often quick to act, which has equal chance to work for or against him depending on the situation, and constantly seems to have energy to burn. When excited in any way outside of battle, he becomes much more animated and may move or speak at faster speeds and as such may be harder to understand if he's trying to convey something.

At times a bit clueless, Ping Pong is obviously very innocent and is naive enough to not always realize ulterior motives and may even miss things like poorly disguised jealousy. He may also not realize some good things said about himself or others, and likely would miss flirting or most sexual innuendo if he heard it. More obvious things like lies that he's aware of or the tricks of someone he knows can't be trusted aren't likely to get by him though. It would take a lot to seriously break mistrust toward an enemy and he's pretty reluctant to beleieve someone who was his enemy would just change. But if he were convinced then they would probably be treated the same as any other friend until he was given a reason to mistrust them again. By the same token, it would probably take a lot to break the trust he has in his friends and people he looks up to.

His innocence, willingness to please, and tendency to quietly endure what's expected of him can easily lead to him being taken advantage of even by his friends. He tries so hard to do what's expected of him that no matter how impossible something seems he'll still try to do it and feel as though he failed if he can't or falls behind...which may lead to him doing something foolish in order to get things done.

He strongly believes that if one has the truth then everything falls into place, though he knows not everyone is truthful. This is also the trait in his mentor, Omi, that he respects above all else. He has the type of honesty that lets him genuinely give praise when he feels something is praise-worthy, even if he does come across as easily impressed at times, but doesn't seem the type to talk down to others. He also shows the appropriate respect to most people, especially his elders, provided they are not his enemies. But again he never really becomes outright disrespectful to even those people he doesn't respect.

When in the presence of someone he really looks up to, Ping Pong's demeanor doesn't change too much even if he worships the ground they walk on. Letting that person down is something that would be extremely hard on his self esteem, even in circumstances where it was an outside factor responsible and he knew it. But he seems to not be lacking in confidence, simply humble. He accepts praise given when he's earned it, but also takes the responsibility for something when made aware that he's at fault...whether he was actually the one at fault or not. He is the type to do whatever seems to be the right solution to rectify his error as well. It's pretty obvious when he has a favorite because that's who he gives most of his attention to, but that's only most of his attention since he still has time for others.

He carries a journal that he writes about his daily life in. He keeps it with him fairly often and his entries also include well done little drawings of the things that stood out about a day's events, hinting that he might like to sketch in his spare time. He has surprisingly good skill in drawing despite showing no interest in it as of yet. The fact that he keeps a diary shows that he likes to look back on things in his life and he tends to record both the good and bad rather than one or the other.

Ping Pong is a competitive person sometimes, but his level competitiveness isn't most people's view of competitive. He's confident but not cocky and doesn't seem to really even view his competition as competition unless it's more of a good vs. evil situation. He plays and fights hard in anything from a battle for a new Shen Gong Wu to beating his fellow monks to get the mail on days that their families send them letters, but is a good sport and simply does his best in whatever he does. If he wins then he doesn't gloat, and if he loses or has to concede defeat he'll still be gracious and congratulate his opponent sincerely...unless they're evil in which case he'll be quietly disappointed.

When not in direct-opposition types of competition he is willing to work side-by-side with his rivals, albeit reluctantly since it's generally a good/evil team-up and runs the risk of betrayal, with no motives but the chance for both of them benefit from the cooperation for the greater good.

Ping Pong is not fearless, but his strong determination lets him stand and face situations even some adults couldn't. He has a sense of honor and will attempt to protect those who need it, though if it were a bad guy it would be with more reluctance. Like his mentor he sleeps balancing on his head in a meditative position, which he can maintain even on narrow surfaces unless he's abruptly awakened by something. For some reason, he also doesn't mind sleeping naked and has little modesty about his body. But if leaving his room before actually getting dressed for the day, he does have the common courtesy to at least cover himself in a blanket first.

Ping Pong was apparently born in Europe, though the exact place isn't known nor are his parents as he seems to be an orphan. His accent is French though, so that's the most likely place.

She came along as she was hoping to compete for apprenticeship too.

When Omi left with Willow for training again, Master Fung asked to to fetch Omi for him. Willow was left alone so Ping Pong offered to train with her, but she blew him off so he returned to the temple and helped Kimiko clean the kitchen instead, perfectly happy to help a fellow monk.

Ping Pong was apparently born in Europe, though the exact place isn't known nor are his parents as he seems to be an orphan.

He became acquainted with his heroes while attempting to find the bathroom in the middle of training, zooming around while quickly explaining in French that he had to go.

She came along as she was hoping to compete for apprenticeship too.

Personality:
Ping Pong is an energetic, hyperactive, and fairly happy-go-lucky person by default. He's helpful, easygoing, kindhearted, and eager to please at first glance and in overall character. He's also brave, determined, and has a strong sense of good over evil, and he actively enjoys the chance to kick villain butt when it presents himself. Naive and sincere, he doesn't go out of his way to impress normally and doesn't go through pretenses, nor does he always understand when he's done something to irritate someone...especially if he hasn't actually done something wrong. He carries a journal that he writes about his daily life in, and has surprisingly good skill in drawing despite showing no interest in it as of yet.

Despite having been raised in temples and mostly dealing with other monks, Ping Pong is very well socialized most likely because he has traveled much of Europe. He doesn't shy away from hard work and likes to see others happy and in the case disputes will try to diffuse them if he can, especially if their about him.

Even though he can have fun if a fight or in his training, he knows very well when the situation is serious or when his utmost focus is required and will give it. He won't back down from a challenge when something important is at stake, and will do anything in his power to deal in a serious situation.

The fact that he keeps a diary shows that he likes to look back on things in his life and he tends to record both the good and bad. He keeps it with him fairly often and his entries also include well done drawings of the things that stood out about a day's events, hinting that he might like to sketch in his spare time.

Abilities/Strengths and Weaknesses:

Prose Log Sample:
It was a surprisingly beautiful night, all things considered. Clear and fairly warm, Ping Pong couldn't deny that even though he was very uncertain where things were heading now. His new home was gone, Master Fung had left, and he was starting a new journey with his brother and sister monks after finally earning his apprenticeship. But so much had changed in just a few days and he couldn't sleep because he was thinking too much about it all. Sitting up, he stood finally and walked out of their little camp and into the trees quietly. He didn't want to wake the others just because he couldn't sleep.

His feet carried him to another clearing, where he soon found himself attacking one of the trees with a flurry of punches and kicks. He was too restless, so he would train a bit for now while he tried to clear his head. Soon the tree was shaking under his blows, loose leaves falling around him. He kept his strength in check though so he wouldn’t damage it too much for no reason after all.

He had experienced so much recently. Coming to the temple, training hard, befriending his heroes. He had ridden a dragon, fought an evil boy genius, won his first Showdown. He had fallen into an evil trap, been used as a cat toy, lost his new home...but everyone was safe and surely Master Fung wouldn't have left them if they wouldn't be okay. Landing with his back to the tree, Ping Pong nodded resolutely, smiling a bit before looking up at the night sky. His friends and he would be fine, and they would defeat Chase and Shadow one day definitely. He would study to become a great warrior like his heroes so he wouldn't let them down. It was a happy thought, like the knowledge that he was with his fellow monks at all. Speaking of which, he needed to get back and go to sleep.
